Phuket motorbike rental price index: September 2026

In short: on September 24, 2026, the median price for one day of rental in Phuket is 300 ฿ for a Honda Click 125, 400 ฿ for a Yamaha NMAX, 500 ฿ for a Honda ADV 160, 1,100 ฿ for a Honda ADV 350 and 2,350 to 2,500 ฿ for a big bike (TMAX, X-ADV, Ténéré). These figures come from 13 rental shops and platforms that list their prices online. It's the tail end of low season: prices stay soft until the end of October, then climb as the tourists arrive.

This price index comes out every month. It answers one simple question: what is a normal price in Phuket today, model by model? Use it to check whether the offer you get at the counter is fair, whether it comes from us or from another rental shop.

This month's table: median price per model (survey of 24/09/2026)

For each model, we noted the one-day price listed by each rental shop, then kept the lowest, the highest and the median (half the shops are below it, the other half above). The median is more reliable than an average: one shop that is very expensive or very cheap doesn't skew it.

Prices for 1 day, in baht, as publicly listed on 24/09/2026. * Lowest price obtained with a compulsory 7-day minimum rental.

Three things stand out. First, the gap between the cheapest and the most expensive stays reasonable on small scooters: rarely more than 200 ฿ for the same model. Second, as soon as you move up to 300-350 cc maxi-scooters, the price doubles. Third, big bikes (over 500 cc) are a market of their own, with few rental shops and very few listed prices: most shops that rent a TMAX or an X-ADV answer "on request".

Where ScootZone sits in this index

We publish our own grid so you can compare without having to message us. Here it is, exactly as it appears on our home page:

ModelMarket median (1 day)ScootZone low seasonScootZone high season
Yamaha NMAX400 ฿200-300 ฿500-600 ฿
Honda ADV 160500 ฿300-400 ฿700-800 ฿
Yamaha XMAX 300875 ฿400-700 ฿800-1,200 ฿
Honda ADV 3501,100 ฿500-700 ฿1,100-1,500 ฿
Yamaha TMAX2,350 ฿800-1,200 ฿2,100-3,200 ฿
Honda X-ADV 7502,400 ฿900-1,200 ฿2,100-3,200 ฿
Yamaha Ténéré 7002,500 ฿1,400-1,700 ฿2,600-3,700 ฿

The difference mostly comes down to how prices are set. Most rental shops list one price all year round, pegged to average demand. We run two grids: lower when the island is quiet, higher when it's full. In September and October that works in your favour, especially on big bikes. From December to March, our prices catch up with the market.

The ScootZone price includes basic insurance (bodily injury covered up to 30,000 ฿, not comprehensive cover, so take out travel insurance too), two helmets, a filmed check at pick-up and drop-off, and free hotel delivery (from 7 days). No cash deposit: we keep your passport as the guarantee and hand it back at drop-off.

Low or high season: what the listed price doesn't tell you

Of the 13 rental shops surveyed, none publishes two price grids. Only one mentions that its rates "may vary" in high season, from November to April. Yet everyone on the island knows it: when Patong's hotels are full, the counter price goes up, sometimes doubling for a small scooter.

To give you an idea, here is the gap on our own grid, comparing the middle of the low-season range with the middle of the high-season range:

Practical tip: if you're coming between December and March, ask for a firm price in writing before you land. A WhatsApp message with the model, the dates and the total is enough. You dodge the "because it's Christmas" hike and you can compare several shops at your own pace. To pick your dates, our guide on the best time to rent a scooter in Phuket covers the weather and the crowds month by month.

Week and month: the long-term rates we found

Rental shops that list a weekly or monthly price go well below the daily rate. Here is what we found in September 2026:

CategoryWeek (surveyed)Month (surveyed)
125-160 cc scooter (Click, NMAX, PCX, ADV 160)1,500 to 2,100 ฿3,500 to 6,000 ฿
300-350 cc maxi-scooter (XMAX, Forza, ADV 350)3,900 to 4,500 ฿9,000 to 15,000 ฿
Honda X-ADV 7508,300 ฿25,000 ฿

Few rental shops publish these rates: treat these ranges as benchmarks, not as a guaranteed price.

Watch out for a common trap: some very low offers (180 ฿ per day for a Click, for example) impose a 7-day minimum. The daily price is real, but you pay for the full week even if you leave after three days. At ScootZone, long-term rental is charged at the model's floor rate, for example 200 ฿ per day for a NMAX; our page on long-term rental in Phuket walks through the maths.

The real cost of a week, fuel and deposit included

The rental price is only part of the budget. To compare two offers, add up these three items:

  1. Fuel. On September 15, 2026, Gasohol 95 is at 39.94 ฿ per litre and Gasohol 91 at 39.57 ฿ (reference price in Bangkok; Phuket stations are usually a bit above, and roadside bottles cost 40 to 50 ฿). A 125-160 cc scooter uses about 2 to 2.5 L per 100 km: at 40 km a day, count on 250 to 300 ฿ for the week. A TMAX or an X-ADV uses about twice as much.
  2. Delivery. It's often free from 3, 5 or 7 days depending on the shop, and charged below that (we found about 350 ฿ at one shop). At ScootZone: free from 7 days.
  3. The deposit. It costs nothing if all goes well, but it ties up your money: from 1,500 to 10,000 ฿ in cash for a scooter depending on the shops surveyed, and up to 70,000 ฿ at one of them for a big bike. Others keep your passport. Our guide on the rental deposit in Phuket explains how to get it back without a dispute.

Worked example: a week on a NMAX at the end of September, 40 km a day. At the market median (400 ฿ × 7 = 2,800 ฿) plus 280 ฿ of fuel, you land at about 3,080 ฿, delivery included at most shops. With a listed weekly rate (1,500 to 2,100 ฿), the total drops to between 1,780 and 2,380 ฿. The lesson: for a week, always ask for the overall price, never the daily price times seven.

Fines: the hidden cost nobody puts in their budget

Thai road traffic law (amendment no. 13, B.E. 2565) provides for a fine of up to 2,000 ฿ for riding without a helmet and up to 10,000 ฿ for driving without a valid licence. Since April 2026, checks have become more frequent in Phuket, particularly in Patong. In practice, the fine paid on the spot is often around 500 to 1,000 ฿.

The real cost isn't the fine: without a valid motorbike licence, your travel insurance can refuse to cover you after an accident. Before you go, read our guide on the licence you need to ride a scooter in Thailand and the one on the compulsory helmet.

What to expect for October and high season

At the end of September, Phuket is still in green season: afternoon showers, quiet roads, plenty of scooters available. Based on what we see every year in Patong, here is what should happen over the coming weeks:

We'll check these trends in the next edition, at the end of October 2026, with a fresh survey.

How we build this index

Frequently asked questions

How much does a scooter cost per day in Phuket in September 2026?

For a 125-160 cc scooter rented by the day, the median price listed by Phuket rental shops is 300 to 500 ฿ in September 2026: 300 ฿ for a Honda Click 125, 400 ฿ for a Yamaha NMAX, 425 ฿ for a Honda PCX 160 and 500 ฿ for a Honda ADV 160. These figures come from our survey of September 24, 2026 across 13 rental shops and platforms that publish their rates online. The extremes go from 180 ฿ (with a 7-day minimum) to 600 ฿ for a brand-new PCX. At ScootZone, the NMAX is 200-300 ฿ per day in low season. The price drops when you rent longer and goes up from November, when high season kicks in.

How much does a maxi-scooter or a big bike cost in Phuket?

A 300-350 cc maxi-scooter costs a median 875 ฿ per day for a Yamaha XMAX 300 and 1,100 ฿ for a Honda ADV 350. Big bikes are on another level: a median 2,350 ฿ for a Yamaha TMAX 560, 2,400 ฿ for a Honda X-ADV 750 and 2,500 ฿ for a Yamaha Ténéré 700, based on the shops that list a price. Few rental shops publish these rates, so the sample is small (two sources for the TMAX and the X-ADV). At ScootZone, the low-season grid is 800 to 1,200 ฿ for the TMAX and 900 to 1,200 ฿ for the X-ADV. In high season it rises to 2,100-3,200 ฿.

Do prices change between low and high season?

Yes, even if almost no rental shop writes it down. Of the 13 sources surveyed, none publishes two separate price grids: most show a single year-round price and adjust it at the counter or on WhatsApp when demand climbs, from November to April. Our own grid shows the size of the gap: a NMAX goes from 200-300 ฿ per day in low season to 500-600 ฿ in high season, roughly twice as much, and a TMAX goes from 800-1,200 ฿ to 2,100-3,200 ฿. If you're travelling between December and March, ask for a firm price in writing before you arrive to avoid the last-minute hike.

Is it cheaper to rent a scooter by the week or by the month?

Yes. Rental shops that publish long-term rates go well below the daily price. For a 125-160 cc scooter, in September 2026 we found weeks between 1,500 and 2,100 ฿ and months between 3,500 and 6,000 ฿. For an X-ADV 750, one Patong shop lists 8,300 ฿ per week and 25,000 ฿ per month. Watch out for offers that impose a 7-day minimum: the daily price looks very low, but you pay for the full week. At ScootZone, long-term rental is charged at the model's floor rate, for example 200 ฿ per day for a NMAX.

What deposit do scooter rental shops in Phuket ask for?

It varies a lot from one shop to the next. In our survey we found three practices: keeping your passport, asking for a cash deposit (often 1,500 to 10,000 ฿ for a scooter, and up to 70,000 ฿ at one shop for a big bike), or offering one or the other. A few shops use an app or a bank card. At ScootZone there is no cash deposit: we keep your passport as the guarantee during the rental and hand it back at drop-off, after the filmed check. One passport is enough for a whole group.

How much does fuel cost for a scooter in Phuket?

As of September 15, 2026, a litre of Gasohol 95 costs 39.94 ฿ and Gasohol 91 costs 39.57 ฿ (reference price in Bangkok; Phuket stations are usually a bit above). The small bottles sold by the roadside cost more, count on 40 to 50 ฿ per litre. A 125-160 cc scooter uses about 2 to 2.5 litres per 100 km: at 40 km a day, a week comes to 250-300 ฿ of fuel. A TMAX or an X-ADV uses roughly twice as much, so 500-600 ฿ for the same week.

What's the fine for riding without a licence or a helmet in Thailand?

Thai road traffic law (amendment no. 13, B.E. 2565) provides for a fine of up to 2,000 ฿ for riding without a helmet. For driving without a valid licence, the Motor Vehicle Act sets up to 1,000 ฿ and one month in jail. Since April 2026, checks have been stepped up in Phuket, especially in Patong and on the main roads. On the spot, fines paid at the police station are often lower (500 to 1,000 ฿), but the real risk is elsewhere: without a valid motorbike licence, your travel insurance can refuse to pay after an accident. An international driving permit with the motorbike category avoids all of that.

When is this price index updated?

Every month. We record the prices Phuket rental shops publish online on a set date, work out the minimum, median and maximum for each model, and update the table with the survey date. This edition is the first: survey of September 24, 2026, 13 rental shops and platforms, prices for one day of rental. The next edition is planned for the end of October 2026, just before high season starts. If you've seen a different price at a rental shop, message us on WhatsApp and we'll check it for the next edition.
