What counts as a "big bike" in Phuket?
Locally, anything from about 300cc up gets called a big bike, whether it's a maxi-scooter or a proper motorcycle. Below that you're in small-scooter territory (NMAX, Click, PCX), which is what 95% of shops rent. The difference on the road is not subtle. Phuket is a hilly island with real climbs, and a small scooter that feels fine solo starts wheezing with a passenger and luggage. A 300cc maxi-scooter takes the same hill without dropping speed. A 750 doesn't notice it.
Who rents big bikes here? Couples who want to tour the whole island in comfort. Riders who own a maxi-scooter or a motorcycle back home and don't feel like downgrading for two weeks. People planning longer rides, up to Phang Nga or Khao Lak and back. And a few who simply want the TMAX they've been eyeing for years, for a week, in the sun.

Yamaha TMAX: the sporty one
The TMAX is the maxi-scooter people ask for by name. Crisp acceleration, handling closer to a motorcycle than a scooter, and enough presence that you stop checking mirrors for what's coming up behind you. On Phuket's coastal roads it's in its element: quick out of corners, stable at speed, comfortable for two. For experienced riders only.

Honda X-ADV 750: the do-everything machine
Half maxi-scooter, half adventure bike, with Honda's DCT automatic gearbox, so no clutch to manage in traffic. The X-ADV 750 sits high, soaks up bad tarmac, and pulls hard whenever you ask. It's the pick for riders who want big-bike power without shifting gears, and it handles the island's rougher back roads better than anything else with a flat floor. Heavy machine, experienced riders only.

Yamaha Ténéré 700: the adventure bike
The only proper adventure motorcycle you'll commonly find for rent in Patong. The Ténéré 700 is a manual, chain-driven, long-travel trail bike, at home on tarmac and happy on dirt. If your plan goes beyond Phuket, say a day ride to Phang Nga Bay or a loop through the mangrove roads up north, this is the tool. It needs a full motorcycle licence and real experience. It gives back a riding position and a range that make you want to stay out all day.

Yamaha XMAX 300: the comfortable middle
The XMAX 300 is the entry into the big-bike world and the best-selling premium model on our fleet, for a reason. Two proper seats, storage for two helmets, a windscreen, and enough power to climb the hill between Patong and Kata two-up without drama. If you've ridden scooters before and want comfort rather than thrills, book this one and stop thinking about it.

Honda ADV 350: torque and luggage
Same family feeling as the XMAX but with an adventure stance, more torque low down, and suspension that forgives potholes. The ADV 350 is the couples' favourite for touring the island: passenger comfort, underseat storage, and pull to spare on every climb. Some riding experience needed.
Indicative price: around 400–500 ฿/day in low season, 1,000–1,300 ฿/day in high season.
Something smaller to start with

Big bike rentals elsewhere often come with a deposit of 5,000 to 20,000 ฿ in cash. We don't take one. Your passport is the guarantee during the rental, and you get it back at drop-off. One passport is enough for a whole group, so the others stay free to change hotels, rent a car, whatever the trip needs.
The part our riders talk about most: at delivery, we film the bike with you, from every angle, scratches included. That video is the reference at return. Anything that isn't on it can't be charged to you, and you can keep a copy on your phone. The licence question, answered honestly
Plenty of shops in Phuket will rent a big bike to anyone with a pulse. We'd rather you know the rules. To ride legally you need a motorcycle licence valid for the engine size, plus an International Driving Permit if your licence isn't Thai. A car licence doesn't cover a TMAX, and it definitely doesn't cover a Ténéré 700. Police checkpoints around Patong are frequent, the fine is annoying, and more importantly an invalid licence can void your insurance exactly when you need it.

What licence do I need to rent a big bike in Phuket?
A motorcycle licence valid for the engine size, plus an International Driving Permit if your licence isn't Thai. A car licence is not enough for a TMAX or a Ténéré 700, and riding without the right licence can void the insurance.
