Book a motorbike in Phuket before you arrive
You're planning your Phuket trip and wondering whether you can book a motorbike remotely, before you even board the plane. You can, and it's honestly the best time to do it. At ScootZone everything runs on WhatsApp: you message us from home, we confirm the model and the timing, and the bike is waiting at your hotel on the day you land. No booking forms, no prepayment, no counter to hunt for after a long flight.
This page answers what travellers ask us most before arriving: how to book from abroad, what licence you need, what serves as the guarantee, how to avoid the classic scams, which model to pick and what it costs. Straight answers, the same ones you'd get if you walked into the shop.

Book on WhatsAppYes, you can book remotely: 3 steps on WhatsApp
A remote booking with ScootZone takes three messages. No app to install and no account to create, just WhatsApp, which you already have on your phone.
1. You message us at +66 64 817 46 08 with your dates, your hotel name and the model you have in mind. Not sure which bike? Just tell us how many of you there are and what you plan to do, and we'll suggest one.
2. We confirm in writing: the model, the daily price, the delivery place and time. Everything sits in the chat, so you keep a record of what was agreed. No deposit is asked to hold the booking.
3. On arrival day, we deliver. You drop your bags at the hotel, the motorbike shows up at a time set around your flight. We walk around the bike together on video, you take the keys, and off you go.
Most of our clients book one or two weeks before flying. Some message us the night before and that works too, but in high season the popular models go fast. The earlier you write, the more choice you have.
Delivered to your hotel on arrival day, even near the airport
Let's be precise here, because this question comes up constantly: we don't run a counter inside the HKT terminal. What we do is deliver to your hotel, anywhere on the island, on the day you arrive. If you're staying near the airport (Nai Yang, Mai Khao, Nai Thon), the bike can be waiting at your hotel minutes after you leave the terminal. If you're heading down to Patong, Kata or Karon, we deliver there, timed to match your transfer.
One piece of advice we give everyone: if your flight lands late at night, don't make your very first Phuket ride a night ride, tired, on roads you don't know. Get a transfer to the hotel, sleep, and take the bike in the morning. We adjust, and delivery at breakfast time works just as well.
Flight already booked?
Give us the day and your hotel, and we time the delivery to your arrival. Helmets and insurance included.
Arrange deliveryWhat to prepare before you travel
Two things to pack, and you're set.
Your licence. To ride legally in Thailand and stay covered by the insurance, you need a valid motorcycle licence, ideally paired with an International Driving Permit carrying the A or A1 category. The IDP is issued in your home country before you leave, usually for little or no money, so it's worth sorting out. If your situation is unusual, message us before you fly: we'd rather tell you honestly what's possible than let you discover a problem here. We wrote a full guide on the scooter licence in Thailand if you want the details.
Your passport. With us there is no cash deposit: no money blocked, no card hold. Your passport is the guarantee during the rental, which is the normal practice here, and one passport covers a whole group. You get it back at drop-off, after the video check. If you want to understand how deposits usually work in Phuket, we cover it in our article on the rental deposit.
Booking from far away without getting burned
This is the real worry with remote booking: sending a message to a stranger 9,000 km away and hoping it all works out. Fair enough, rental scams do exist in Phuket. The two classics: the fake scratch charged at drop-off, and the cash deposit that comes back lighter than it went in.
Our way of protecting you is simple: we film the motorbike at handover AND at return, in front of you. The condition of the bike is proven both ways, so nobody can invent damage afterwards, not you and not us. Add insurance and helmets included in the price, zero cash deposit, and a WhatsApp thread where everything agreed is written down. If a rental company won't confirm things in writing before you arrive, that tells you something. We listed every trick we know in our guide to scooter rental scams in Phuket.
One last thing that reassures a lot of travellers: ScootZone is a real shop in Patong, with an about page, a Google listing with client reviews, and Tony answering the WhatsApp himself. You know who you're writing to.
Which model to choose for your stay
No need to agonise over this. Here's how we advise our own clients.
For a classic solo or couple trip, beaches, restaurants, night markets, the Yamaha NMAX does the job very well: easy to handle, comfortable, room for a helmet under the seat. If you plan to explore the island and get off the main roads, the ADV 160 copes better with rough surfaces. For two people riding a lot, or if you want serious storage, the XMAX 300 adds power and a proper box under the seat.
Above that you're into the big machines: ADV 350, TMAX, X-ADV 750, Ténéré 700. These are for experienced riders, great for a lap of the island or a run up to Phang Nga. Our guide on which motorbike to rent in Phuket compares them all, or describe your trip on WhatsApp and we'll settle it together in two messages.
Torn between two models?

Booking ahead costs the same as walking in. Our rates start at 200 ฿/day for the NMAX, 300 ฿/day for the ADV 160 and 400 ฿/day for the XMAX 300. For the bigger machines, count from 500 ฿/day for the ADV 350, 800 ฿ for the TMAX, 900 ฿ for the X-ADV 750 and 1400 ฿ for the Ténéré 700. In high season, December to March, prices rise with demand.
The price confirmed on WhatsApp is the price you pay, helmets and insurance included. For the full grid by model and season, see our page on motorbike rental prices in Phuket.
Pay on the spot, and stay flexible on dates
You pay nothing online. The WhatsApp booking holds your motorbike without a deposit, and payment happens on the spot, at delivery, in baht. That's also what makes the whole thing flexible: flight delayed, itinerary changed by the airline, staying three extra days after all? Message us and we reschedule the delivery or extend the rental. Nobody charges you a change fee, and there's nothing to cancel because nothing was prepaid.
That's been our bet from the start: make booking so simple that there's no reason to wait until you're here, and so commitment-free that writing to us now costs you nothing.

Do you deliver the motorbike to Phuket Airport?
We don't run a counter inside the HKT terminal. We deliver the motorbike to your hotel on your arrival day, anywhere on the island, including right next to the airport (Nai Yang, Mai Khao, Nai Thon). The timing is set around your flight over WhatsApp, so the bike is waiting when you drop your bags.

Not sure about your case? Message us on WhatsApp before you travel and we'll tell you honestly what's possible.
How do I pay for a motorbike rental in Phuket?
You pay on the spot, when the motorbike is delivered, in Thai baht. Nothing to pay online and no deposit to hold the booking. You confirm over WhatsApp and pay once the bike is in front of you.
